The Unofficial Alpine Meadows Ski Report
3/7/10 We Will Definitely Take 90% Good

Hello Skiers,

One thing is certain, most people agree that the skiing & boarding at Alpine Meadows is the thing to do. The main parking lot filled quickly on Saturday morning, with Deer Park not far behind.

Grooming was right on for the weekend, with all groomers in just about perfect shape. Morning runs on Sunspot, Wolverine and Alpine Bowl all received rave reviews.

There was a need to pay attention on ungroomed terrain. Northern exposures were skiing great, with soft winter snow. Top reported spots were Palisades, Keyhole, Sherwood Cliffs, High Yellow, Peters Peril and North Peril. Southern and eastern exposures did not fare so well. We made some really rough turns in Secret Spot, Yellow and Skadi Hill. Similar negative reports were made regarding some aspects of Sherwood and High T.

Powder conditions were reported in north facing OB terrain. Good reports were heard from both Subdivision Bowl and Munchkins.

Things didn't warm up to soften things up as a small storm started dropping snow in the afternoon hours. Neither Alpine or NOAA is reporting any significant accumulation on that event.

The main park disappointed skiers and riders yesterday. It is midway through a rebuild, so jumps were clean, but all lips had not been rebuilt. It was a good day for practicing your Nordic style jumps. Hopefully they finished those jumps last night.

Have a great day.

It's Been A Good Week For "Doctor Appointments"

Some people had a dreamy week at Alpine meadows. Although I managed to get there Tuesday, but Wednesday and Thursday were reported as some of the best skiing so far this year. Around 30 inches of new snow fell this week, and apparently this last batch was dry, cold and light.

The Weather Geek is calling for some light snow tonight and Saturday. Hopefully these storms will take an arc that is a bit more productive.
